I have never been one to set goals for the new year, let alone a bucket list, but there is a first for everything. I am still decided on the one word to help guide me through 2019 but that won’t stop me from dreaming up a bucket list of actionable items I can turn to throughout the year. This 2019 Bucket List will be a reminder to take time for myself and my family as I navigate building a thriving business while working full time.
What is a Bucket List?
A bucket list is a compilation of experiences or achievements that a person hopes to have accomplished during their lifetime.
Creating S.M.A.R.T. Goals
I did a whole post on S.M.A.R.T. financial goals for 2019 that you can read here.
S.M.A.R.T. goals have 5 key characteristics. To make the goal S.M.A.R.T. it must be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-based.
However, S.M.A.R.T. goals can reach further than just your financial life. S.M.A.R.T. goals should be a part of your goal setting strategy. I have tried to apply the principles to my 2019 Bucket List to ensure that I can actually reach these goals.
Some of the goals I am presenting to you are going to be easy while some of them are going to take a lot of work on my part and really stretch me from my comfort zone. That’s what life is all about though, right? Getting out of your comfort zone to help make you a better and stronger person.
My 2019 Bucket List
Read 12 Non-Fiction Books
I use to read every single night before bed. However, in the past two years or so I have really let reading fall the wayside. I don’t think I finished one book in 2018 which is very out of character for me. I would like to read a total of 12 non-fiction books in 2019. This will be one book per month if everything goes as planned.
Write 150 Blog Posts
This is a big goal for me. I am roughly 6 months into my blogging journey with about 60 blog posts under my belt. I would like to stay on a schedule of 3 posts per week for a total of 150 posts in 2019. While 3 posts per week is the schedule I would like to keep writing 150 blog posts is the ultimate goal on my 2019 Bucket List.
Create 6 Digital Products
Creating 6 digital products is a stretch goal for my 2019 Bucket List. I currently have zero digital products available but have plans in place to create six digital products throughout the year. It will be a lot of work but it leads into my next bucket list item.
Earn $36,000 from Budget & Bliss / Online Business
I want to earn $36,000 while working for myself from home in 2019. I am not currently bringing in an income from Budget & Bliss or any other online source. This income goal will help us reach consumer debt freedom and will allow me to step away from my full-time job when we decide to have a child.
Attend a Kim Anderson Mentored Retreat
I really want to make it to the Autumn mentored retreat in the Carolina’s. I saw pictures from the retreat this past autumn and it looked like a lot of great networking occurred as well as coaching.
Visit 24 Local Parks
The city we live in has 24 parks and has been named Playful City USA. I have only been to a few of these parks but would like to explore them more.
Walk 3,00,000 Steps
I wanted a FitBit for Christmas in 2017 and used it for a few months in 2018. Then it got put in the closet and never taken back out. Walking 3,000,000 steps over the course of the year will average just under 10,000 steps per day which is in line with the CDC’s recommendation of 150 minutes of moderate exercise each week.
My original goal was going to be 10,000 steps daily but then I decided to track it as 3 million steps over the course of the year. This will give me the grace I need to meet this goal. Some days I will be under 10,000 steps while other days I will be over 10,000 steps. There will also be days throughout the year that I don’t wear the Fitbit at all. I will still be able to meet my overall yearly goal even if I don’t meet the daily goal.
Pay off $15,000 in Credit Card Debt
This is a huge number for us and one I definitely want to cross off my 2019 bucket list. We barely did a fraction of this in 2018 but we are ready for the debt to be gone. My husband has a plan in place to pay off all of our smaller credit cards by May 2019 and then will start working on the bigger loan. $15,000 is definitely a stretch for us but with a growing online business and my husband side hustling, I truly think this is doable.
Replace the Flooring in the 3 Bedrooms
When we moved into this home in 2017 the house was wall to wall carpet. We replaced the living room, dining room, and hallway with luxury vinyl planks. A year later we still love the flooring and would like to replace all of the floors in the bedrooms with it. We want to complete this project in 2019 to ensure the product is still available. Colors are discontinued every few years and we don’t want to wait to look and miss the opportunity to have all of our flooring match.
Disney’s Keys to the Kingdom Tour
My husband and I have been talking about the Keys to the Kingdom Tour for years now and have never done it. This tour takes you through Magic Kingdom and even into the underground service tunnels you only briefly hear about. Since we are big Disney fans which would be an amazing tour to learn a bit more about how Disney actually works. We will need to plan a trip in the winter or spring to ensure it is not too hot for the walking tour.
Create 50 Videos for Youtube
Youtube has been on my list of things to do since 2017. I even started a channel in early 2018 where I was sharing personal finance stuff. However, I wasn’t comfortable with the amount of personal information I was sharing so I stopped and removed my videos. The Youtube Channel will be an extension of Budget & Bliss, I just need to decide what information I want to present and how I want to present it.
Brand my Business
I want to work with a designer in 2019 to get the branding for Budget & Bliss on point. Since I am not yet making an income from Budget & Bliss everything up until this point has been DIY. While I am happy with my branding and logo at the moment I know it needs work. By working with someone who does branding for a living I will have a clear picture for my business with colors / fonts / design elements that hold true to my values while making my brand look cohesive.
Use a Planner and Track My Work
I bought a Dapperdesk from Emily Ley to help keep me organized in 2019. While I have used a planner in past years I haven’t been very consistent with it. Life has gotten a bit crazy between the blog and personal tasks so I definitely need to start writing things down and keep track of them.
Design a Product Line for Zazzle
Before blogging on Budget & Bliss I created scrapbooking products. While I am not in the position to ship my own products right now, designing products and selling on a site like Zazzle is definitely something I am interested in. Expect to see clothing and accessories as well as home and living products from me in the future. I am excited to branch out and expand my business.
Complete Elite Blog Academy 4.0
Have you ever heard of Elite Blog Academy? It is a blogging course that teaches you how to set up your blog properly and turn it into a profitable business. The course is very in depth and if you follow the steps you can turn your little blog into a thriving business. While I purchased EBA in 2016 I didn’t go through the course until 2018 when I started this site. The course is being revamped and version 4.0 will be released in March 2019. Now that I have been blogging for a while I am ready to start the course over and go back through those earlier lessons. It will be a totally different experience with content already on my site versus building it as I go.
Complete a Whole30
Whole30 has been on my mind a lot lately. While I have read a bit about it and have followed Whole30 on Instagram for a long time I have never ventured into actually doing a Whole30 myself. 2019 is definitely the year to do it though. I want to break my sugar habit (and my terrible soda habit!) as well as get my body back to feeling better. I want to create better choices and learn how to eat properly.
Create a Project Life Album
I haven’t scrapbooked much in the past few years and I miss it. I created digital books for my parents and mother-in-law for Christmas this year and really enjoyed seeing all of our pictures in print. I want to get back to documenting our life and the journey we are on. While I am not sure if I will create a weekly album like many others do with Project Life I will work documenting important days and trips.
Apply for Mediavine
Mediavine is an ad network that will help me monetize my website. The requirements include 25,000 sessions to your website in a given 30 day period. I am working on increasing my traffic to reach Mediavine so I can apply for their program. This will create a steady passive income source for me while I work on growing other income sources for my website.
Go to the Tampa Bay Rays Opening Day
We have attended opening day for the Rays in years past but missed the opportunity to buy tickets for 2018. We will have to be more diligent with buying tickets in 2019 to attend the game.
Create the life you love!
While crossing each one of these items off of my 2019 bucket list is the end goal I do know that I need to give myself grace throughout the year. Some of these goals are a stretch for me but each one is achievable if I put in the work. I also added some fun items to help find more balance for my husband and I. We have gotten into hustle mode and haven’t taken much time for ourselves. I want to make sure we take the time to nurture our relationship as well.
I hope you will join me throughout 2019 as I update you monthly on my bucket list progress. I also plan to write blog posts about a few of these things so be sure to follow along to see how my 2019 Bucket List progresses.
What is on your 2019 Bucket List? I would love to hear from you in the comments!
